September 1, 2023 the Annual Jenning’s Labor Day Party was held at the home of Dr. Ryan & Sara Jennings. Entry was given in trade for a donation to the United Way of Effingham County. Attendees enjoyed a delicious taco bar, entertainment from area band Backroad Boogie and an excellent fireworks show. This event raised just under $10,000 for the United Way of Effingham County. A special thanks to Dr. Ryan & Sara Jennings, Neil, Stephanie, Ciara and Brianna Taylor, Jeff Frey, Ben Frey, Chad Arnold, Noah Jones, Max Hardiek, Jack Jennings and Dana Donsbach for making the event possible.

The month of October brought the Annual United Way of Effingham County Witches Ball. The event was held on October 20th at the Keller Convention Center. A night full of spooky fun was had by all. The night consisted of a live and silent auction, raffle prizes, costume contest, dinner, music and much more. In all, the event raised $41,007 for the United Way of Effingham County. United Way of Effingham County held a comedy show at Tuscan Hills Winery this past Thursday. Tuscan Hills Winery holds “Sip for a Cause” events every  Thursday where they donate the space, free advertising and 20% of sales to a nonprofit organization.

Amber Klear with Effingham Comedy lined up some great entertainment for the event. Local comedian Josh Funneman and Comedy Central’s James Johann were in the lineup, providing an evening full of laughs for the crowd.

“We are incredibly grateful that we were all able to come together and raise money for our neighbors here in Effingham County. Events like these wouldn’t be possible without such generous people like those at Tuscan Hills Winery and Amber Klear. The smaller events like these can really add up to help raise funds for our local agencies. We’re looking forward to holding more of these events in the future!” said Emily Hille, Chief Professional Officer for United Way of Effingham County.

With this event, United Way of Effingham County was able to raise $2,537.50. A great time had by all while benefiting those in need within the community. Name a better combo!

United Way of Effingham County continues to provide funding to human service organizations within our county. Benefiting one in three people, ages ranging from infant to senior. We’re making efforts to LIVE UNITED.
