Big Brothers Big Sisters (Mid-Illinois)

Provides funding for professional supervision and support for children and volunteers paired in one-to-one mentoring relationships both in school and in the community. Boy Scouts of America Greater St. Louis Area Council

Delivers first class scouting programs to families in Effingham County. United Way dollars are used to help support professional staff services by providing guidance, program support, training of adult leaders, recruitment of youth and adults and marketing. Funding also provides registration, books and uniforms for at-risk youth and scholarships for camp for Effingham County troops.

Catholic Charities

Provides financial, material, emotional and spiritual support to those in need in Effingham County. United Way dollars are used to fund the Food Pantry which supplements donated food and household items, and other programs that provide assistance for rent, utilities, temporary lodging, medical and prescription costs and transportation for low-income individuals and families, and the elderly.

El Shaddai Homes

Residential Maternity Home for pregnant women and their babies. A loving Christian family home providing live-in-support, parenting education, life skills, counseling, post birth after care and resource referrals. The shelter provides a variety of services to those in need, including safe, temporary housing, access to health care, and support services. The shelter also offers educational programs, parenting classes, and job training to help women get back on their feet.

Enduring Freedom Ministries

Provides basic needs which include but not limited to: food, groceries, clothing, and spiritual needs. They also have a soup kitchen that provides hot and precooked meals for those in need. There is no fee for their service, assisting families a hand-up not a hand-out. United Way funds are used to provide these services.

Family Mental Health Support

FMHS is located in Effingham, Illinois, and is a grassroots support organization comprised of local people with mental health experiences within their own families to share with other families. Our offices have a relaxing atmosphere to sit and unwind with games, puzzles, and good conversation. We also provide families support through monthly meetings, educational resources, and personal experiences.
